“Everybody counts in applying democracy. And there will never be a true democracy until every responsible and law-abiding adult in it, without regard to race, sex, color or creed has his or her own inalienable and unpurchasable voice in government.”
Carrie Chapman Catt, Founder, League of Women Voters

Voter Mobilization

The WAVE Voter Mobilization Working Group focuses on the following initiatives:

  • Writing letters to increase voter turnout in key swing states

  • Registering and pre-registering high school students

  • Mobilizing student groups to increase civic engagement among our youth

  • Community outreach and education, such as organizing Spanish-language information sessions

  • Hosting ballot parties to inform voters on how to vote the whole ballot

WAVE’s army of writers was at it again during the 2022 primary and general elections!

In partnership with Field Team 6 and Vote Forward, WAVE members wrote and sent 59,000 pieces of voter registration and GOTV communication. This includes 47,940 Field Team 6 postcards (including Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District and Aitken for Mayor postcards) and 5,299 Vote Forward letters.

As for furthering voter education, our Voter Mobilization and Community Partnerships leaders worked with local groups to begin hosting “Election 101” sessions in Spanish. They engaged voters in discussing what matters to their communities through small groups and how election outcomes help or hurt those issues. They also empowered residents who cannot vote with ways they can still positively impact their communities.

Do you know of a school or organization that would like to partner for voter mobilization?
