Vote

Voting in every election, and voting the whole ballot, is one of the most important civic duties we exercise as citizens of a democratic country. Help elect officials who support progressive American values and ethics such as equal rights and protection for all, diversity and inclusion, collaborative leadership, social justice, and environmental stewardship.

Check Your Registration:
Are you registered to vote? Is your registration up to date? It’s never too early to make sure you are ready for the general elections on November 3rd.

WAVE has partnered with Common Cause and Power the Polls to ensure a fair and equitable election process. As we navigate an election in a pandemic, it is vital we band together and protect the precious right to vote. We ask for your partnership in supporting our most foundational democratic principles — including both the vote and the results.

Protect the Polls:

  • Poll Monitor: You can protect the vote by visiting voting locations during the early voting period and on Election Day. You will observe voting taking place, support voters, and report issues that arise.
  • Social Media Monitor: You can support voters who are posting on social media about problems with voting and report elections-related misinformation and disinformation by remotely volunteering to address these issues.
  • Textbanking:  Provide outreach to voters from an online platform to give them accurate voting information and support. We need our voters to be ready, informed, and safe in their vote!

Work the Polls:
During the election of our lifetime, there is a poll worker shortage due to COVID-19 concerns. Typically, older volunteers work on Election Day. Apply to become a poll worker — a paid position, with personal protection equipment and training provided. We need to ensure that election technology functions properly and efficiently, minimizing lines and delays and that voters have adequate support from their communities to navigate issues when voting.

Volunteer

Ready to get involved? VOLUNTEER your time to create meaningful action in your community, inspire change and get out the vote.

WAVE Days of Action:
WAVE hosts a variety of activities in conjunction with our endorsed candidates’ campaigns. We need volunteers to write letters, phonebank, and textbank for our endorsed candidates, and support voter rights. Email volunteer@wave4all.org to sign up today!

WAVE Motivote Team:
With your help, we can: take back the White House, flip the Senate, keep the House, and elect a slate of progressive state and local leaders. Sign up for a WAVE Motivote Team to get fun, easy-to-do actions you can do from home while earning points that you can use toward some exciting prizes.

Educate

WAVE offers several ways for you to help educate yourself and those around you on how to best support your interests on the ballot: Host or attend a Ballot Party, a Virtual Voter Persuasion Training Party, or a Meet-and-Greet with WAVE-endorsed candidates. To make your event a success, we will provide the materials and tools, while you bring the guests!

Ballot Parties:
Attend a (virtual) BALLOT PARTY! These meetings are a fun, easy way to prepare yourself for voting the full ballot. A trained WAVE member will lead the discussion on the candidates, ballot propositions and local measures to make sure you and your friends, family, and other invested citizens feel confident and prepared when it is time to cast your votes. The impact of hosting a WAVE Ballot Party is exponential!

Relational Organizing:
Help leverage relational organizing through technology and social media to encourage those around you to vote and to introduce them to new candidates! We cannot go door to door this year due to Covid-19, but you can still reach out to those around you. Use the guide below to start getting active online!

Voter Persuasion Training:
Host a virtual VOTER PERSUASION TRAINING using our Take Back the White House training video. This video features Sara El-Amine, former National Organizing Director for President Obama. In around 30 minutes, Sara will show your guests the science behind her successful strategies, including how to determine which registered voters are most open to your influence, which styles of communication are most effective with potential supporters, and how to support these voters in actually casting a vote in this pivotal election. All these are customized to fit our activism needs during this time of COVID. If you would like to request personalized planning support, just email us at membership@wave4all.org to set a date and time.

Candidate Meet-and-Greets:
Would you like to host or attend a MEET-AND-GREET with WAVE-endorsed federal, state, or local candidates? This experience will allow you to interact with candidates, learn about their platform, ask them questions, and help spread the word about their qualifications. Like the Ballot Parties, you are free to come up with your own guestlist. Simply get in touch with us so we can help you plan your own event!

Write

It only takes a couple of minutes and a stamp to meaningfully increase the odds that a fellow citizen will vote. Sending a letter is one of the easiest – and most impactful – things you can do to increase election turnout. WAVE will be here to support you through our virtual letter writing parties. If you have writer’s block or need to come up with creative and persuasive lines to include in your letters, join us!

The Big Send
WAVE has joined The Big Send, a major grassroots campaign, spearheaded by Vote Forward. Together with other partner organizations, we are aiming to send 10 MILLION LETTERS to voters in swing states.

Buy and Send Postcards
WAVE is supporting postcardstovoters.org in their initiative to support different races throughout the country. Purchase postcards from their site, and they will provide you with guidelines and scripts for writing. You can choose the number of cards you complete and have five days to mail them out. Email volunteer@wave4all.org to sign up today!
